Turning Burden Into Blessing: Ruhama and Her Fiancé

A wedding is a joyful beginning - but for many families in Pakistan, the financial expectations surrounding marriage can also bring significant pressure.
This November, a young woman named Ruhama will begin a new chapter of her life as she marries her fiancé. Ruhama has experienced significant hardship in her life, beginning with the loss of her mother at her birth. She grew up in a broken family and was raised by her aunt with limited resources.
As she prepares to establish a home with her future husband, Jesus Never Fails Global wants to come alongside her, and help turn this burden into a blessing.
Understanding the Burden of Dowry
For those unfamiliar with Pakistani culture, it is important to understand what we mean when we use the word dowry.
In Pakistan, dowry (jahez) refers to the household goods and possessions traditionally provided by a bride's family when she marries. These may include furniture, clothing, kitchenware, appliances, and other necessities for establishing a new home.
For families with limited resources, meeting these expectations can create a significant financial burden, adding pressure to an already difficult situation.
This is part of the reason Jesus Never Fails Global has established the Dowry Relief & Wedding Blessings Initiative. Our desire is not simply to provide things. We want to come alongside young couples and their families and provide practical help as they begin this new chapter, and remind them that they are not carrying their burdens alone. As Galatians 6:2 says, "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
Our First Wedding Blessing
Ruhama is the first recipient of our Dowry Relief & Wedding Blessings Initiative.
We want to come alongside Ruhama and her fiancé as they begin their life together, helping provide the household items they need to establish their new home. A bed, kitchen items, clothing, appliances, and other necessities may seem like ordinary things, but for a young couple beginning with limited resources, these things can represent real relief.
This is what we mean when we talk about being the hands and feet of Jesus Christ - stepping into the struggles people are facing, meeting practical needs, and demonstrating the love of Jesus through action.
Ruhama is the first young woman we are serving through this initiative, but she will not be the last. As we encounter and assess similar needs among the families we serve, we hope this ministry can continue to provide practical assistance to others who need it.

Help Us Turn Burden Into Blessing
Ruhama's story is one of hardship, but we pray that this new season will also be marked by joy, hope, and the kindness of people who choose to come alongside her.
Every gift - large or small - can help lighten the financial burden of establishing a new home and become a tangible expression of the love of Jesus.
Thank you for coming alongside Ruhama and her fiancé as they begin this new chapter.
More importantly, your generosity can become a tangible expression of the love of Jesus.
Thank you for helping us turn burden into blessing.
